Artificial Intelligence (AI) will address the major issue in Instagram Stories. The new generative AI feature in Stories will fill gaps in photos, ensuring a perfect look for your posts.
When you upload a photo taken with any smartphone to Instagram, you may notice it doesn’t fully cover the screen. This is because Instagram still supports the 4:5 aspect ratio, while most modern smartphones take photos in a 16:9 format. When uploaded, Instagram either crops the photo to fit or adds white borders using the "Fit" option to preserve the original photo. Now, Instagram is introducing a generative AI feature to solve this problem.
The Instagram team is testing a new feature called "Extend your Photo". This will work similarly to the expansion tools seen in Photoshop and other software. Photos you add to Stories will no longer appear with black borders on the top and bottom, as Meta’s AI model will analyze and seamlessly complete the uploaded photo.
To help users distinguish AI-generated images from others, Instagram will display a watermark in the lower left corner.
