Technology giant Huawei announced its newest tablet Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 at an event in China. According to the brand, MatePad Pro 12.2 is the lightest among the tablets in its class. Here are Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 features and price.
The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 measures 128.53 x 271.25 x 5.5 mm and weighs only 508 grams. This makes it the lightest 12-inch tablet on the market. The tablet features a dual-layer OLED panel on the front that offers 2,000 nits of brightness and 2.8K resolution. According to Huawei, this panel increases the lifespan of the OLED panel up to three times and provides up to 33% power efficiency. There's also a 144Hz refresh rate, 2000000:1 contrast and 92% screen-to-body ratio.
Huawei did not mention which platform the MatePad Pro 12.2 is supported by. However, preliminary reports point to the Kirin 9010W processor. The tablet gets the power it needs from a 10,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. According to Huawei, this enables charging up to 85% in 40 minutes and up to 100% in 55 minutes.
In the camera department, MatePad Pro 12.2 is powered by a circular two-sensor setup. There are 13MP main (f/1.8 aperture, autofocus) and 8MP ultra-wide (f/2.2, fixed focus) sensors on the back. On the front, an 8MP selfie camera is positioned for video calls and selfies. Other features of the tablet include 4 dual-channel speakers (dual high frequency and 4 low frequency), Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C, ambient light sensor, hall sensor, gyroscope sensor, compass and gravity sensor, 4 microphones, 4 speakers and Huawei Sound support.
In the accessories department, MatePad Pro 12.2 has Huawei Star Leap Keyboard support and an internal charging dock for the M-Pencil stylus. It also comes with new brushes, canvases such as "golden silk" and "rice paper", and an updated Tianshenghuihua app. This includes an AI-powered portrait app. Moreover, in August, it will receive updates such as professional rendering effects, faster synthesis speeds, 8K canvases, magic wand selection and layer positioning.
Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 will be available in three standard colour options - Gold, White and Ink Black. The 12GB+256GB model of the tablet starts at $600 and goes up to $1,161 for the 16GB+1TB version with Pen Keyboard Set. MatePad Pro 12.2 will be available for pre-order from 6 August, with official sales starting on 13 August. The date it will reach the Turkish market has not yet been announced.
