Google fined $85 million: for violating privacy

Google, which has received many penalties for its violations in recent years, has been sentenced to another penalty.

Google tracked Android users even when location services were turned off

In May 2020, the State of Arizona sued Google for violating its personal data privacy. The state's attorney general, Mark Brnovich, stated that even if Android users' location services are turned off, Google tracks users' location through search, maps, weather and other applications. The lawsuit, demanding a penalty of $10,000 per data breach, was concluded, and Google was fined $85 million by the State of Arizona. While the $85 million fine may seem insignificant for the firm, since Google received close to $69 billion in revenue per quarter, this case was the firm's most penalized per data breach.
