WhatsApp boss urges everyone to quit Telegram

WhatsApp head Will Cathcart accused Telegram of lacking an adequate level of security for users and urged everyone to leave this messaging app. The experienced manager shared his thoughts on the subject via his personal Twitter account. “Telegram is not protected by end-to-end encryption by default and does not offer E2EE (end-to-end encryption) for group chats,” Cathcart said to demonstrate WhatsApp's superiority over Telegram. He also said that this platform has the capacity to share almost any sensitive information requested by governments.

Cathcart also cited a Wired article that revealed the discovery of a vulnerability that allowed even secret Telegram chats to be read in their statement. WhatsApp's boss admits his criticisms may seem self-serving. In this context, he did not invite everyone to switch to WhatsApp.

Saying that there are many other great messaging tools with end-to-end encryption, Cathcart concluded by saying, "If you're not going to use WhatsApp, use one of these, but don't use Telegram."
