Apple will release iOS 16 final version for iPhone XS and later models after introducing the iPhone 18 series. However, some features will not come with the first iOS 18 release.
Apple did not include some of the features it described when introducing iOS 18 in iOS 18 and even iOS 18.1 beta versions. Therefore, when iOS 18 final version is released, some features will not be available even on iPhone 15 series. A few notable features, including ChatGPT support for Siri, will arrive later this year, possibly with the iOS 18.2 update. Here are the new features expected to come to iPhones with iOS 18.2:
With iOS 18, Siri gained ChatGPT support. Since Apple has integrated ChatGPT into the operating system, you will be able to use artificial intelligence even if you do not have an OpenAI account. ChatGPT will answer questions that Siri cannot answer. iPhone will show you a notification when there is a question that ChatGPT sees fit to answer. However, ChatGPT support, which will make Siri much more capable, is one of the iOS 18 features that will be gradually introduced. It will come to iPhones by the end of this year.
Genmoji is one of the new iOS 18 features shown at the WWDC event in June. However, neither iOS 18 nor iOS 18.1 beta versions that brought Apple Intelligence beta. Taking emoji to a whole new level, Genmoji can be created with a description. You will be able to create a Genmoji of a friend or family member based on their photos. However, there is no information on when this feature will be released.
Apple says it will introduce a new Mail app later this year. The Mail app's on-device categorisation will organise and sort incoming personal and time-sensitive emails under Primary, confirmations and invoices under Actions, news and social media notifications under Updates, and marketing emails under Promotions. The Mail app will also offer a new summary view that aggregates emails from a business in one place, allowing you to quickly scan emails that are important to you at that moment. Apple Intelligence will recognise questions in an email and give you options to include in your response.
Apple says it will offer full support for robot vacuum cleaners later this year. From the Home app, you'll be able to control key features of robot vacuum cleaners, such as power control, cleaning mode, vacuum, mop, and charging status. You will also be able to use Siri to make the robot vacuum do certain commands.
These features, which are not available in iOS 18 and iOS 18.1, will come with the iOS 18.2 update expected to be released in December.
