HMD Global has officially ceased the sale of all Nokia-branded smartphones. The company will now move forward with its own brand of mobile phones.
The Nokia smartphones have been shifted to a separate category on HMD's official website, marking their removal from the active product lineup.
Once a dominant force in the mobile industry, Nokia struggled to adapt to the rise of smartphones and was later acquired by Microsoft. Following an unsuccessful journey with Microsoft, HMD Global of Finland obtained the rights to produce Nokia phones in 2017. Since then, the company has focused on budget-friendly Android devices under the Nokia brand.
However, HMD recently announced that it would stop producing Nokia-branded phones and would instead launch smartphones under its own label. Although Nokia phones continued to be available in some markets, they are now completely phased out.
Nevertheless, HMD still sells feature phones under the Nokia brand, which remain popular in many markets. While Nokia ’s name has temporarily exited the smartphone scene, the possibility of a future revival under another company remains open.
