Grok, the AI of the xAI company founded by Elon Musk, continues to grow. Musk recently announced the release date of Grok 2 and Grok 3 AI.
xAI, founded by Elon Musk in March 2023, is still a very young company in the field of AI, but it continues to take firm steps forward with its Grok model and chatbot of the same name. xAI's official goal is to "understand the true nature of the universe", while Musk recently shared the release date of Grok 2 and Grok 3 AI.
Elon Musk announced that Grok 2 will come in August in his post on X, which he owns. He said that Grok 3 will be released until the end of the year. Musk did not share technical details about the new models. On the other hand, he underlined that Grok 3 will be trained on 100,000 Nvidia H100.
From Musk's statements, it is understood that Grok 2 will be a more advanced and quality-oriented model in terms of training data. On the other hand, xAI announced Grok in November in response to ChatGPT, while Grok 1.5 was released in March. It seems that the company prefers to move quite quickly in terms of launching new models. Musk is also preparing to build one of the world's largest supercomputers for xAI. So Musk's claims about AI do not stem from simple curiosity.
Grok 1.5 debuted with a context window of 128,000 tokens and managed to surpass OpenAI's GPT-4 model in some areas. For now, Grok is only available to paid X subscribers. It is not clear whether there will be a free version of Grok in the future.
