At CES 2025, Dell announced a major shift by retiring its well-known XPS, Inspiron, and Latitude brands. From now on, the company will adopt a simplified naming system featuring Dell Plus, Premium, Pro, and Pro Max.
The goal behind this change is to streamline product categories and make segmentation clearer. Inspired by Apple's use of terms like "Pro" and "Max," Dell aims to make it easier for customers to distinguish between product tiers. The updated naming scheme is as follows:
XPS – Dell Premium
Inspiron Plus – Dell Plus
Inspiron – Dell
Latitude – Dell Pro (Pro Plus, Pro Premium)
Precision – Dell Pro Max (Pro Max Plus, Pro Max Premium)
Although the new naming system simplifies category distinctions, the use of multiple suffixes could still cause confusion in some cases.
Among the highlights of Dell’s new lineup at CES 2025 are the Dell Pro Premium 13 and Pro Premium 14. The Dell Pro Premium 13 weighs only 1.07 kg, making it one of the lightest commercial laptops, while its 21-hour battery lifestands out. The Pro Premium 14, on the other hand, features the first tandem OLED screen in a business laptop.
For consumers, the Dell 14 and 16 Plus (formerly Inspiron) resemble previous mainstream Dell designs. The Dell Premium series (previously XPS) retains its iconic look.
The Dell Pro 13 and 14 Premium are now available, though pricing has not been disclosed. The Dell 14 and 16 Plus will launch on February 18, starting at $999. The Dell Pro Max 14 and 16 are expected in March.
