OpenAI started to open ChatGPT to users without an account. The company describes this move as part of its goal to make tools like ChatGPT widely available so that people can benefit from artificial intelligence.
Another goal of OpenAI is to get more training data by making ChatGPT available to more people and to direct users to the paid GPT-4 with superior features instead of GPT-3.5.
Users without an account have limited access
However, OpenAI states that there are more categories of restrictions on query and image creation for users without an account. Although the company did not specify which categories were restricted, an OpenAI spokesperson said that teams responsible for detecting and preventing the misuse of artificial intelligence models were involved in the creation of the new feature and will make adjustments based on emerging threats.
OpenAI also allows to disable the use of systems for data training in non-logged-in chats. You can do this by clicking the question mark to the right of the text box, selecting Settings, and unchecking "Optimise model for all".
