It is known that Apple has been working on mixed reality glasses for a while. However, this information has not yet come together at a product point. Recent reports show that Apple's mixed reality glasses will soon pass through the production lines of Pegatron, which Apple uses in iPhone production.
Mass production expected to start soon
According to the report based on DigiTimes, Apple's mixed reality glasses will go into mass production in March 2023. However, the mass production volume will not be very large. Initial information stated that Apple would produce 2.5 million glasses annually, but now this figure has been reduced to between 700,000 and 800,000.
Prices can be high
Keeping the production number low may indicate that Apple can release the titles at a high price. However, low-volume production is not a desirable situation under normal conditions for manufacturing partners such as Pegatron. But Apple's brand equity makes it easier for firms to raise money in the capital markets to finance their operations. In this way, the manufacturing partners don't want to miss the chance to work with Apple to prove their skills in AR/VR. On the other hand, Apple has been working on augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality glasses for several years. But the reason why we still do not see a product from Apple is that there are some important problems that slow down the progress in technology. Apple brings new technologies to its iPhone and other products as it matures. Therefore, the company is likely to follow the same scenario on this side.
In addition, the famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in June that Apple will introduce the mixed reality glasses in January 2023.
