Apple has released a new beta update for AirPods Pro 2 users. This software adds new features that came with iOS 18, such as head gestures.
Apple has released a new update for AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C and Lightning charging case. This is the fourth update since Apple announced new AirPods Pro 2 features in June, and now includes new features from iOS 18.
Head movement control and sound isolation
There are multiple features coming to AirPods Pro as part of iOS 18. These features were included with software update 7A5266c. One of the new features is head gesture control. For example, if you don't want to answer a call, just shake your head left and right, or if you want to accept the call, just move your head up and down. The only advantage of controlling Siri with head movement is that it can be used not only to answer calls quickly, but also to respond to incoming messages and notifications.
The new beta also adds sound isolation to AirPods Pro. This reduces loud background noises and adds a new personalised spatial audio feature for games. Game developers will be able to include spatial audio in their games for a more immersive audio experience.
To install the AirPods beta software, download Xcode 16 beta and enable the developer menu on iPhone or iPad. Then the AirPods beta software installation option appears. Of course, iOS 18 beta version must also be installed to take advantage of the new AirPods features.
