Apple does not listen to bans!

Apple said iPhones sold in the country must have a charger out of the box. A Brazilian court fined Apple $19 million for continuing to sell iPhones without a charger.

Apple says they no longer put a charger in the box of iPhones to reduce carbon emissions. The company claims that many users already have a charger and that the chargers will continue to be sold separately. The court in the case did not favor Apple's environmental statement and concluded that Apple forced the consumer to purchase the charging adapters that were previously included with the product.

$19 million fine!

Now, in addition to paying the fine, Apple is expected to include a recharger in the box of iPhones and provide a charger to all customers who purchase an iPhone after October 13, 2020. In Brazil, there has been no charger in the iPhone box since 2020. In most countries, iPhones only come with a USB-C to Lightning cable. In September, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice banned Apple from selling iPhones without a charger and fined the company, alleging that it was giving missing products to its customers. Apple will appeal against this decision, as well as the $19 million social damages penalty.
