There are many rumours that 2024 will be a very big year for Apple Watch. The model, which is expected to be introduced as Apple Watch X or Series 10, will come with new design and features.
Since Apple did not renew the iPads last year, 2024 is expected to be the year of the iPad. However, there will be great innovations on the wearable device side. The special model for the 10th anniversary of Apple Watch is expected to arrive in 2024. The new model, which will come as Apple Watch Series 10 or Apple Watch X, is expected to offer new health tracking features as well as design innovations. Therefore, those who will buy Apple Watch for the first time or replace the current model are advised to wait. So, how will the 2024 Apple Watch model be? Here are the expected innovations:
Design is changing
The first Apple Watch model was introduced in 2014 but went on sale in April 2015. So, we are approaching the 10th anniversary of the company's first wearable. Rumours suggest that Apple will release the special 10th anniversary model as early as 2024. According to Mark Gurman, Apple will make a major design change. We'll see an Apple Watch with a thinner case and a different way of joining the band. It is rumoured that the new straps will be magnetically attached to the watch. This will free up more space for the battery and other components of the Apple Watch. This will give the Apple Watch advantages such as a larger battery.
Transition to MicroLED display
Display analyst Ross Young shared that Apple is working on a new watch with a 2.1-inch micro-LED display. The watch is rumoured to arrive in 2024 or 2025, but the microLED display could be exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra. A larger-sized watch (Apple Watch X) with a new case design and thinner bezels is also rumoured. MicroLED is more energy efficient than the OLED technology currently used in Apple Watch models. It also offers longer lifespan, faster response time, better contrast and brighter colours.
Blood pressure monitoring and Hypertension detection
Gurman says Apple plans to add blood pressure monitoring to the Apple Watch in 2024. This feature will report whether the user's blood pressure is on an upward trend. Apple is rumoured to use a different method to measure blood pressure. With the help of sensors, Apple Watch will measure the speed of the heartbeat wave through the user's arteries. As part of the new blood pressure monitoring system, Apple Watch is also expected to detect hypertension attacks or abnormally high blood pressure. When hypertension occurs, the system will give users the option to note what they are doing. To avoid the possibility of misdiagnosis, Apple Watch will prompt the user to talk to their doctor or have their blood pressure checked with a traditional cuff that provides full systolic or diastolic measurements.
Sleep apnoea detection
Apple Watch will use the user's sleep history and breathing patterns to detect sleep apnoea, then refer the user to a doctor.
Apple usually introduces new Apple Watch models along with iPhones in September. However, it may have a different plan for the 10th anniversary special Apple Watch model. It is worth noting that the first Apple Watch was introduced in September 2014 but was not released until April 2015. Therefore, Apple can use both dates for the anniversary of Apple Watch.
