Apple M4 Pro and M4 Max unveiled: "The World`s Fastest CPU Core"

Apple has completed the M4 processor series by introducing the M4 Pro and M4 Max processors alongside Mac Miniand MacBook Pro models. According to Apple, these processors feature the world’s fastest CPU cores.

With the Mac Mini and MacBook Pro models launched yesterday and today, Apple completed the M4 processor serieswith the M4 Pro and M4 Max processors. Produced with TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, these processors, according to Apple, feature the fastest CPU cores in the world. M4 Pro comes with 14 cores (10 for performance, 4 for efficiency), while M4 Max has 16 cores with a 12+4 CPU configuration.

Apple M4 Pro

According to Apple, M4 Pro offers up to 1.9x the performance of M1 Pro and up to 2.1x that of Intel Core Ultra 7 258V. The GPU, which scales up to 20 cores, delivers 2x the performance of M1 Pro and 2.4x that of Intel while also offering 2x enhanced ray tracing capabilities.

M4 Pro supports up to 64 GB unified memory with a memory bandwidth of 273 GB/s, representing a 75% increaseover M3 Pro. Combined with the faster Neural Engine in the M4 family, this bandwidth allows Apple Intelligencemodels on the device to run significantly faster. Additionally, M4 Pro supports Thunderbolt 5, providing up to 120 Gb/sdata transfer speeds—double that of Thunderbolt 4.

Apple M4 Max

M4 Max pushes performance to the peak, offering up to 2.2x the performance of M1 Max and 2.5x that of Intel Core Ultra 7 258V. Its GPU, scalable to 40 cores, provides up to 1.9x the graphics performance of M1 Max and 4x that of Intel processors, enabling demanding tasks like noise reduction in raw video on DaVinci Resolve Studio to be processed in real-time.

M4 Max supports up to 128 GB unified memory and 546 GB/s memory bandwidth, enabling developers to easily interact with large language models containing up to 200 billion parameters. The enhanced Media Engine in M4 Maxincludes two video encoding engines and two ProRes accelerators.

Apple states that alongside high performance, the new M4 chipsets stand out with their efficiency, allowing up to 24 hours of battery life in the MacBook Pro series.
