Apple Intelligence Storage Requirements Increase

Apple Intelligence Storage Requirements Increase

Apple's AI platform, Apple Intelligence, previously required 4 GB of device storage for on-device processing. However, due to enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities, this requirement has now risen to 7 GB.

The Apple Intelligence package runs directly on devices, using allocated storage to boost performance. Initially limited to 4 GB, growing AI capabilities have led to an increased need, now reaching 7 GB, according to Apple’s official support page.

Since on-device AI models allow faster operations without cloud dependency, adequate storage is crucial. The previous requirement was 4 GB, but with advanced AI-powered features, it has been expanded to 7 GB.

Future storage needs may grow further

With the release of iOS 18.2, new features like Image Playground, Genmoji, ChatGPT support, and Image Wandwere introduced. The upcoming iOS 18.3 update, expected this week, might further escalate storage demands, hinting that future devices will require larger capacities.
