Apple Image Wand: The AI-Powered Visual Assistant of iOS 18.2

With the release of iOS 18.2, Apple introduces Image Wand, a revolutionary feature that integrates AI-powered visual generation technology into the Notes app. Say hello to a new way of bringing your notes to life!

Apple’s Image Wand feature, introduced to users with the iOS 18.2 update, integrates AI-powered visual production technology into the Notes app. A new member of the Image Playground family, this technology allows users to create customized visuals from text and sketches.

Image Wand Launches on December 9 with iOS 18.2

Image Wand enables users to create personalized visuals from text and sketches. Unlike traditional tools, this feature generates visuals based on hand-drawn sketches. Compared to Image Playground and Genmoji, Image Wand offers a unique experience for educational and creative note-taking, leveraging input from Apple Pencil or an iPhone touchscreen.

Multiple style options for diverse needs

Image Wand offers three distinct styles: SketchIllustration, and Animation.

  1. Sketch provides detailed and academic visuals.
  2. Illustration focuses on bold colors and defined lines.
  3. Animation brings a 3D cartoon aesthetic to life.

Each style is designed to meet different note-taking and visual communication needs.

Limitations of the feature

Image Wand cannot generate visuals with human figures and does not support the creation of copyrighted, violent, or inappropriate images. These restrictions ensure the feature aligns with ethical and legal standards.

Available on select devices only

Due to its high-performance requirements, Image Wand is available on specific devices: iPhone 15 ProiPhone 15 Pro MaxiPhone 16 models, A17 Pro-chip iPad mini, and Apple silicon iPads.
