Apple has conducted a large-scale research on tinnitus, one of the important discomforts of today's world. It shared its results with the World Health Organisation.
Since the day it started tracking health data, Apple has also been working to produce value. Collaborating with various medical institutions in possible countries to analyse health data, Apple has published one of the largest researches in the medical world.
With nearly 2 billion users, Apple has become an important library for analysing health data. Of course, these studies also enable Apple products to stand out more. The company recently published a study on tinnitus.
The study of more than 160 thousand users is considered one of the largest studies in the medical world. Apple aims to fully understand the cause of this discomfort and find solutions at a basic level.
77.6 per cent of the participants in the study stated that they experienced tinnitus or a similar condition. This discomfort is more common in the late fifties. This rate is 3 times higher than at the age of 18.
Men experience this condition 2.7 per cent more than women. In the study, it was observed that exposure to high sound levels and experiencing sound trauma caused tinnitus. Twenty per cent of the participants with tinnitus stated that they experienced these problems.
In this research, Apple states that tinnitus can be partially reduced with many applications or modes in its products. For example, Apple Watch can warn the user in environments with unhealthy noise. Users can see the level of sound with the Health app.
Again, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max earbuds can also perform noise cancellation before the user is exposed to unhealthy sound levels, or completely block sound with the Reduce Loudness mode. Apple also shared this research with the World Health Organisation
