Amazon Introduces Its First Color Display Kindle

Amazon has introduced four new e-readers, including its first color display Kindle model. What do the new Kindle models offer?

Among the new devices are the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, Kindle Scribe, the revamped Kindle, and Kindle Paperwhite.

Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition

For years, Kindle users have been asking Amazon for a color version of their e-reader, and the company has finally listened, introducing the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition. Colorsoft is based on E-Ink technology but uses an entirely new display stack designed for Kindle. The screen features a newly designed oxide back panel that allows tiny ink particles to move quickly, enabling faster page refreshes.

The water-resistant Kindle Colorsoft supports wireless charging and offers up to 8 weeks of battery life. It also features a new LED light guide. The device will be available on October 30 for $280.

Kindle Scribe

The new Kindle Scribe is not just an e-reader but also a digital notebook. Paired with Amazon’s Premium Pencil, the 300 ppi display is designed to simulate the experience of writing on paper. The pencil includes a soft-tipped eraser feature.

Kindle Scribe offers not just note-taking but also a book-writing experience. Its Active Canvas feature allows users to add notes directly to book pages. With an integrated AI-powered notebook, pages can be summarized for faster, more efficient note-taking.

Priced at $400, Kindle Scribe will be available on December 4, with pre-orders starting today.

Kindle Paperwhite

Amazon has updated the Kindle Paperwhite e-reader. It now features a larger and brighter 7-inch display. The screen has the highest contrast ratio of any Kindle display yet. Amazon also claims that the screen refreshes pages 25% faster. The new model offers between 10 weeks to 3 months of battery life, depending on usage. The standard Paperwhite starts at $160.

Amazon also introduced the Signature Edition of Paperwhite, priced at $200. This model comes with double the storage (32 GB), wireless charging, and auto-adjusting front light.

Entry-Level Kindle

The entry-level Kindle has been updated with a new dark mode, 25% brighter backlight, and improved contrast. Amazon states that while page turns are faster, it’s still noticeably slower than the Paperwhite. The new model offers up to 8 weeks of battery life on a single charge and comes in a new green color option. It features the same 6-inch 300 ppi display, 16 GB of storage, and USB-C support, priced at $110.
