AirPods 4 will be introduced together with iPhone 16

Apple September event is just days away. One of the devices to be introduced with the new iPhone 16 series will be AirPods 4. So, what will the 4th generation AirPods offer with its features?

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro series, Apple Watch Series 10 and Watch Ultra 3, as well as AirPods 4 headphones on 9 September. Here's what you need to know about the new AirPods 4:

AirPods 4 expected features

Apple plans to release two versions of AirPods 4. One will be more affordable, with fewer features, while the other will be slightly more expensive but offer more features. AirPods 4 will replace the AirPods 2 model, which is still on sale, while the more expensive AirPods 4 version will replace AirPods 3. The two models cannot be separated from each other in design.

AirPods 4 will come with a new design that combines the look of both AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro. In other words, all AirPods 4 models will have the new, shorter handle look seen on more modern AirPods. We will no longer see the design of AirPods 2. It won't offer interchangeable tips like the AirPods Pro, but Apple will tweak the design to capture more users.

AirPods 4 premium model will be distinguished by its features, not its design. For example, the higher-end AirPods 4 model will have active noise cancellation. This feature is available on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. There will also be a transparency mode, but the adaptive sound feature will remain exclusive to AirPods Pro. The more expensive AirPods 4's charging case will support MagSafe and have a built-in speaker for Find Me support.

Both models of AirPods 4 will offer USB-C for charging. The current AirPods 2 and AirPods 3rd generation come with a Lightning port charging case.

AirPods 4 expected price

Entry-level AirPods 4 is expected to be available for $129. The high-end AirPods 4, which will come with noise cancellation, transparency mode and a better charging case, is rumoured to be priced at $179. The new AirPods will probably be available after the event or on the date iPhone 16 pre-orders will start (13 September).
