Apple is gradually cutting off its relationship with Samsung, one of the largest display suppliers. The company is expected to use its own screens on the first Apple Watch Ultra model, which will be released in 2024. Currently, most of the screens for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch are produced by Samsung and LG. It will be a big blow to these business partners that Apple starts using their own custom screens on mobile devices. It supplies displays not only from Samsung and LG, but also from many other names such as Japan Display, BOE Technology, Sharp.
The transition will begin with top-of-the-line Apple Watches towards the end of 2024. The next Apple Watches are expected to use a micro LED display instead of an OLED display. As always, Apple will use the new screen in smartwatch models for a while, and on the latest iPhones, we will most likely see a micro-LED screen in iPhone Pro models. In fact, Apple has been considering switching to a micro LED display for a long time, but the project is said to have been delayed due to high costs and technical difficulties.
